My people, I pray this morning that we shall never use our mouths to destroying our life, we will never kill our child/children by our mouths and enemies will never break our eggs ase

My sermon today, Sat.3rd Sept. 2016 at our House of Worship, Indigene Faith of Africa( Ijo Orunmila Ato)Inc, taken from Ejiogbe:-

 

Akole/ Theme
Iwa onikaluku la o fi da l’ejo
By their characters shall they be judged
Isepe werewere awo oju omi
Iti bamba awo ale odo
Irawe lebelebe awo ajaro oju omi
Awon na difa fun Olokun Seniade
Nijo omi okun ko too bu boju ko to bu wese
Ota werewere awo inu omi difa fun Olokun
E o ri Ijo weliweli ti ngbe won ree f’Oluweri
Translation
Little log of wood, the Priest of stream
Timber, the Priest of the sea
Water lily, the priest of the river
They cast divination for Olokun
When the water from the ocean is so little that it can’t wash the face or the feet
Pebble, the priest of the sea also divine for Olokun
Don’t you see whirl wind troubling and taking them to the king of the sea?
The story.
Olokun was so small and was experiencing discomfort when the sun is very hot including insults from spitting from people. He consulted the 3 Babalawos named above, the little log of wood, the timber and the water lily. The Odu cast was Ejiogbe. They told Olokun that he would never be big and remain small forever. Wao! What a depressing prophecy.
He left them and was crying when the 4th Babalawo, the pebble met him on the way and asked, “what is troubling you?” He narrated his experience with the 3 Babalawos. The pebble (Ota) asked for the Odu and when Olokun told him, “Ejiogbe”, the pebble was surprised with their interpretation. He told Olokun not to worry. He just needed to do ‘ebo’. Olokun did as was told and miraculously, other streams from nowhere joined the small Olokun to make him the biggest ocean all over the world. He was thankful to Olodumare and Ifa that he decided to celebrate. Everyone was invited including the 4 Babalawos. After eating and drinking, the 3 Babalawos arrogantly wanted to see Olokun, then the whirl wind was troubling them, they got scared and shouted the name of Olokun. When Olokun heard their voice, he cursed them that they would forever be restless on water because they were prophets of doom but on the other hand he embraced Ota werewere(The Pebble) and prayed that he would forever remain strong and healthy ( Ori kii fo ota ninu omi, otutu kii mu ota lale odo, ota kii ku) for delivering the esoteric message of Olodumare perfectly. When you throw a stone into the sea, where does it go?
My people, we can all contribute to analyse the lessons from this stanza.

my today’s sermon comes from the ogbeweyin corpus which says we must not argue about what we don’t know so that we may see a benefactors in life also we may not end up in jail because of this argument.

orumila said Don’t argue with my word i said ifa don’t argue with my words, am the one that arguing to the extent that i tear off dog’s hand am the one that arguing to the extent that i tear off the white feather of dove aseta is going to ado town, erimin is going to owo town orunmila said he is going to ijeti hill his father’s house, orunmila said he saw a strange thing and peoples said what did he saw? he said, he saw somebody that built house but not living inside it rather it lives outside, the crowd shouted ahhh! that is a lie, that how could somebody built house and not leaving inside it but live outside orunmila told them to follow him, when they reached where one dangerous insect like bee called”agbon” built its house, orunmila said where did this insect is living? they all said outside orunmila said that is the person that built house but not living inside it but living outside, all of them shouted yesss! that is true. he said again that he saw something, but peoples were messed him that he wanted to lie this time around becase he has got the first one, they asked him that what again?

 

he said he saw somebody that have mouth but she couldn’t talk, but peoples refused to believe him he pointed out a lady and he ordered someone to naked her and they did, he pointed the private part of that lady that what does it resemble? people said mouth orunmila said did it talk? they all said no! he said that is somebody that have mouth but never talk, peoples shouted yesss! orunmila is truly genius indeed. when it is a while orunmila also said he saw another strange thing, they all responded that he should go ahead, orunmila said he saw a dead dog eating corn palp or corncake more than live dog but people shouted and said lie!!! that how is it possible for a dead dog to eat corn palp than live one?
Orunmila said they should bring out one dog and they did so, he gave this dog one palp the dog ate it up two corncake but when he gave the third one to the dog, the cannot ate it to the half before it couldn’t eat it anymore, orunmila said they should killed the dog and make it soup and they did so, orunmila ordered for three basket of corncake they started using that dead dog meat to eating it till they finished it, and he also ordered for another three baskets they also finished it with that dog’s meat orunmila now asked that what did they used to ate all that six baskets of corncake?

 

they said the meat of dead dog, orunmila said, didn’t i told you that a dead dog can eat more than the live one, they all said yesss! it is true. Orunmila said don’t argue with my word i said ifa don’t arguing with me, am the one arguing to the extent that i tear off dog’s hand am the one arguing and tear off a white feather of a dove, the aseta is going to ado town the erimin is going to owo town orunmila said he is going to ijeti hill his father’s house, he said he saw another thing but people were saying that he shouldn’t put himself to a shame because he has been telling them the truth since so he should not tell a lie that will destroy his good deed, orunmila said he saw a dead goat that speak aloud than a live one, but everybody said is a great lie, he said they should bring out a goat and they did so he started flogging it but the goat voice didn’t reach the next five house, orunmila told them to killed it and remove its skin and cook the rest with soup ingredient and also differences type of foods should prepare and they did so, orunmila made that skin a drum when they ate all the foods he started druming and they were dancing to the extent that peoples in about one kilometer heard the sound of the drum and they came to see what is happening, orunmila now said didn’t he told you that a dead goat is loudable than live goat they all said yess!!! that is true ooo, and they all promised that they will never arguing with orunmila’s word till the end of the world.

 
My people, I pray today that too known will not be our portion, argument will never send us to jail and it will not distracted us from our benefactors amen.

Revealed the way to Orunmila when he was looking for a place to settle down. Orunmila found a place in Death’s neighborhood, where also lived Sickness, Loss, and Bad Times, the neighborhood of all the Sixteen Evils that are in the world.
Orunmila said, “Yeah, this is the place for me. So what can I do to make it work out?”
They told him to make an offering on his divination tools, (so that his practice of divination would show him the way.) Offer money, a pigeon, a hen, the clothes he was wearing; offer it at the place he was going to live.
So what happened when he got there?
He got to that place, near Death’s house, and started up the fire. (Like turning on the lights.) Death saw that someone had moved in next door.
“Who’s that?” he asked.
“That’s Orunmila. I’ll go fix him.” Said Sickness.
Loss said, “No. Let me go.”
Bad Times spoke up and said, “I’ll show him what for.”
“No.” Spoke Death flatly, “If I don’t go over there you guys won’t be able to stop him.”
He threw his huge club up in the air and caught it with one hand.
When Death got over there, who did he meet? Our father Orunmila. Our father saluted Death and asked him to stay awhile; he offered him something to eat and cracked open a few beers, made sure he was good. When Death finally got up to leave our father gave him the chicken from the offering, asking him to take it with him.
When Death got back to his crew, he said, “Uh…let’s back off.”
“Back off?! You saying ‘back off’?!” retorted Sickness, “I thought you said you were going to give it to him with that club of yours? Well, we’ll just go look in on him ourselves.” Sickness, Loss, Bad Times, and all the other Evils of the World went to visit Orunmila. The whole bunch of them, all naked, because that’s how they were back then. They didn’t even have clothes.
After they’d greeted Orunmila, he asked them where they were going. They said the were just passing by. Our father asked them to sit down, to take a break and have a little rest. He gave them food, and something to drink. Seeing that they were naked Orunmila took out some clothes and handed them out.
“They’ve been telling you things about us, haven’t they?” Asked Sickness.
“No, no one’s been talking about you.” Said our father.
“Come on, they must have been telling you things.” Said Sickness.
“No, no one’s been talking about you. Not at all.” Said our father.
“Then why are you doing this?” Asked Sickness.
Our father said, “I just saw you and did what I usually do.”
Orunmila said, “I saw you and did for you what I’d do for anyone, what I’d like done for myself.”
“OK.” Sickness said. “That first guy that came in here, you know…that was Death.”
“And I am Sickness.” He said.
“And this here is Fight. This one is Loss and that guy there he’s Bad Times.” He said, “We won’t mess with you today…but you’ll be hearing from us.” They left Orunmila alone.
Anyone that gets sick, laid up in bed, should go call on Orunmila so they can feel better. Anyone that’s lost something, should go call on Orunmila, and get it back. Anyone having bad times, they should go call on Orunmila, and have a better time. Anyone facing what appears to be the end of the line, they too should go call on Orunmila. To go about it any other way, you end up living with no one but the evils of the world, with Death. Never forget the thankfulness and generosity that are your true self; stay in Orunmila’s house.
This is how Orunmila became wealthy.
This is how our father became immortal.
When Orunmila was looking to settle down in the neighborhood of Death, of Sickness, of Loss, of Bad Times, of the Sixteen Evils found in the world, he said:
